The three most important things I took away from Jon DeNunzio’s visit were as follows:
1) Try to avoid cliches.
2) Leave locker room talk in the locker room.
3) Always make your deadlines

Three things Jon DeNunzio:
1. How to be successful: Master the basics – pay attention to detail – write clear and concisely.
2. Cliches – don’t write them and keep puns out of your writing.
3. No such thing as a bad quote – only bad questions.

Three things from Jon DeNunzio:
1. Pay attention to detail. style detail must be consistent.
2. People don’t look at the big picture often enough.
3. For blogs, they are much quicker than standard reporting, so whatever is the most effective way to tell the story is what works best.

Three things I learned from Jon DeNunzio:
1. To get into the business..get published. Learned from editors to be as objective as possible.

Three things I learned from Jon DeNunzio:
1. To get in the business of sports writing you have to get published. People want to see that your work has been edited.
2. Master the basics, don’t get the little things wrong.
3. Keep puns and cliches out of your writing.

Three things for Jon DeNunzio:
1. The most important thing is to master the basics. If that can be done, we’re ahead of the curve.
2. Minor mistakes are huge in the eyes of those whom they effect. If a reader finds one mistake, they are going to irreversibly assume that more exist.
3. Avoid cliches at all costs. The color in our writing should come from the way we tell the story, not from cheap SportsCenterization.

The three things I took away from Jon DeNunzio were:
1. If you’re going to be a journalist don’t be a booster. (in other words don’t refer to sports as “our team” or “we’re going to do good.”)
2. If you want to get into media master the basics and pay attention to detail.
3. Avoid cliché’s like the plague.

3 things I learned from Jon Denunzio:
1. I found it interesting what Jon told us about cliches and the way sports casters use them. I neve thought about it like that but it makes a lot of sense to leave them out.
2. Dont be a homer. Meaning no matter how much you like particular sports teams, you cannot show favoritism. Being objective is difficult but necessary.
3. Leave the locker room talk in the locker room. This is kind of like the cliches spoken about earlier. But some things said in the locker room should stay there.

Aw, this was an extremely good post. Finding the time and actual effort to generate
a superb article… but what can I say… I put
things off a lot and don’t manage to get nearly
anything done.

Fantastic blog! Do you have any recommendations for
aspiring writers? I’m hoping to start my own website soon but I’m
a little lost on everything. Would you suggest starting with a free platform like WordPress or go
for a paid option? There are so many options out
there that I’m completely overwhelmed .. Any tips?
Thanks!
